Graeme Dunbar’s report –
53 miles on the West Highland Way from Milngavie to Tyndrum with 1200m of ascent.
As Fling virgins last year Kathy and I returned older, more experienced and allegedly wiser. Conditions were almost perfect with forecast double black raindrops failing to appear and Conic Hill hidden in cloud a welcome psychological bonus before being bathed in sunshine (momentarily!) on the shores of Loch Lomond. We controlled our pace and ate and drank to plan but the technical sections either side of Inversnaid were no easier. The last leg from Beinglas is constantly undulating and saw me resort to pulling my race face to get through while Kathy chicked me and smiled all the way to the line.
Thanks to John Duncan and team for an epic day out and to Stuart Macfarlane for race pics.
