Today’s race in the Borders Cross Country series was at Whitesands and Barns Ness near Dunbar. I haven’t been here since a family camping holiday in the early ’70s. The beach hasn’t changed much and Barns Ness Lighthouse and the Cement Works are still there, but so, too is the more recent building of Torness Nuclear Power Station. We ran out towards Torness and then headed into the wind on the return leg. A good race and I enjoyed being able to see a long snake of runners along the beach (I was at the back, obviously). Looking forward to the next (and last for this series) race at Berwick in February.
