There was heavy snow falling in Colinton just before Ian and I left for the cross country race at Paxton today, but thankfully no snow when we arrived. I feel I’m getting into the way of these short, friendly winter races (after a ten year break), but this one was shorter than usual. Apparently, the leading runners took a wrong turn and could not be redirected by the marshals, thereby shaving off a loop of running. It was a long way to drive to run 2.6 miles, but still good fun with numerous river crossings (only one with a bridge) and endless fields of mud (one runner in front of me lost her shoe)! Good to see lots of Carnethies running.

Carnethies bag top spots!
Mike Reid was first man, Charlotte Morgan first lady. Andrew Gilmore was hot on Mike’s heels in 2nd place.
Still no cumulative results on the borders xc website, but full marks to them for getting provisional results out astoundingly quickly (see here http://www.bordersxc.com/)
