The very social group enjoyed a fast run out to Easter Craiglockhart Hill |
5.6 miles, 1hrs 18 min, 532ft ascent.
The very social group enjoyed a fast run out to Easter Craiglockhart Hill on Wednesday night. We skirted around the top of Blackford Hill, down into the Hermitage, around the tennis courts at Greenbank, and then over the wall to follow the Jordan Burn along to Craighouse. This path by the burn was new to me (although I’ve been around this area since the 60s). There were lots of wee foot bridges across the burn, which made me feel we were running along a wild private garden. In the grounds of Craighouse we followed a path up to the top of the hill and posed for a photo. Two strange runners (or runners who were strangers) appeared just after we turned to head back the way we’d come. We met another group of runners (even stranger) as we ran back along the Jordan Burn. They turned out to be the Social Group who followed us back to Blackford Hill and KB. We ran for 1:18 hours and covered 5.64 miles. A great run led by Willie. |

And a Fast Hard Allermuir Run |
14.5 miles, 2hrs10min, 3,373ft ascent. Excellent running conditions last night, so the 3 in the fast group headed for the Pentlands in search of the aurora borealis. It took less than half an hour to reach Swanston Golf Club, and we then took the direct line to Allermuir Summit. Continuing along the ridge to Capelaw and Harbour Hill, with an hour on the clock we decided it was time to head back. Taking the lower level tracks via Bonaly Resr and Howden pump house back to Swanston, and then onto The Steading (no stopping for beer) and back to KB via Mortonhall and Liberton Tower. Grahame Nash |
