I my overzealous recovery from the Skye Ultra I tweaked a knee chasing folk down the hill on the Eddlestone handicap. Bad technique, proper rest needed and probably a good thing. A few mountain bike sessions and fairly gentle runs seemed promising so I decided the Pentland Pursuit Mountain Bike Orienteering event would be good low impact exercise. 30 check points, 3 hrs, 500 points possible, any route choice all in our lovely Pentlands. I decided to just try and get all the check points and take any penalties. Sweat, bit of blood (poor technique), no tears, 491 points after a 9 pint penalty got me 4th place. 41 miles covered on the day from home and back. Knee felt good – so the Edinburgh 7 Hills Race was on.
