Edinburgh’s summer closely matched Rio’s winter for the olympian dash up Caerketton. A full turnout of lean and hungry V60s ensured I got nowhere near the podium, this being the finale of the Bog & Burn series too. An enjoyable outing, the return taking a different route this year off from the second cairn across the hillside, avoiding the steep and damaged direct descent. A very damp mob of runners steamed up the Steading for soup and prizes. Results

A massive field of ninety nine finished the race and survived getting blown off the hill (unlike most of the race numbers) with James Espie (Deeside) winning in a very good time for the conditions of 18:45. He was closely followed by Joe Symonds (Shettleston). Georgia Tindley led home an HBT 1-2 in the women’s as second was club mate Jill Stephen. Twenty Juniors from age 4 (!) to 13 braved the conditions in the Junior race, won by Struan Bennet (Kinross) with sister (?) Ailsa Bennet (Kinross) first girl.
