This year’s championships saw us up in Aberdeen, at the University’s sports grounds in Bridge of Don. The course was fine and firm, but suitable for spikes and the weather was perfect for running.
Off first for Carnethy were our ladies (sadly one shy of a scoring team) and first back was Charlotte Morgan in 15th (and 1st Female Master) in a time of 24.51, followed by Helen Bonsor (27th/26.03) and Sarah Sigsworth (33rd/27.11). The ladies ran two laps (4.01 miles), but from next season will be running the same distance as the men. They can suffer the same pain as us.
Next up was us men, just the two of us as we had a few drop-outs. Mike Reid was first home over the 6.02 mile course in 33.03 for 27th place (and 2nd Master) followed by Mike Lynch in 38.52 for 127th place.
A great day of running and I would encourage more members to consider taking part in the National Championships in Falkirk in February. it would be great for the club if we could register a male and female scoring team. Results
