Over Easter, for something a bit different and obviously with time on her hands, Angela Mudge took part in the National Three Peaks Stair Challenge, finishing in 5hrs 18mins. The challenge is to climb the equivalent of 3408m (combined height of Scafell, Snowdon & Ben Nevis) in the comfort of your own home. All proceeds from the event (and sponsorship money) go to fund the production of essential PPE such as masks etc.
Angela’s report: “My narrow stairs are 3m high so I ‘only’ had to do 1136 repetitions and negotiate the tight bend 2272 times. To count I used a 1000 piece jigsaw (plus additional pieces) at the top of the stairs and chucked a piece in a bucket each time I reached the landing. The dogs looked on in horror, then fascination as I plodded up and down. Pup joined me for a few but then thought her ball was a better option so I arrived at the bottom to then stop and throw the ball out into the garden, it added variety. Over 5 hours later I finally finished and can safely say I won’t be doing it again!”.
The ‘event’ was organised to fund the production of essential PPE, each mask costs 50p to make so if you would like to donate some money towards this worthy cause please use the link below.
