Lammer Law Handicap 16thJuly 03
There was a very good turnout at the Lammermuirs for the 4th race of the series, on a superb sunny and breezy evening. Keith had advised that full body cover should be carried, but in the event sun-tan lotion was the only full body cover needed. The route climbed steadily to the summit of Lammer Law, then dropped to Hopes Reservoir before a final steep, heathery climb to the Fort on Hope Hill, and back to the finish over bracken covered paths - a superb route. My handicaps produced a 15-min finish time spread with a steady procession of runners over the finish line, but allowed Alan to win once again, this time by only a few seconds. He now has a record-breaking score in the handicap series; so either my formula does adequately adjust for good performance, or it's simply that Allan is steadily getting faster this year! Meanwhile Ronnie Gallagher turned in the fastest time, despite 'just jogging round….' Afterwards we retired to the new venue of the Tweedale Arms in Gifford for supper, where we were very well looked after by the staff. Results
