Romannobridge Handicap 26th May 2004

There were fine views to the Lammermuirs and Pentlands and beyond as the weather was dry and clear with just a light breeze, and the sun came out just in time for the start. The 3-hill course provided some tough climbs and fast descents over the 9.5km distance, and some navigational challenges for a few who should have brought a compass despite the crystal clear visibility. The dry conditions produced fast run times and some close finishes, and Irene was delighted to win by more than 7mins making good use of a beneficial handicap after the last race. We eventually adjourned to the Steading for supper after no food was forthcoming at the Romanno or Leadburn Inns at that time of the evening. With only 12 clubmembers and 2 non-members present we all went home with lots of points for the series.
