Dolomiti Bellunesi race calendar 2011

Hello!
In a tentative thank you for letting me know all the beauty of the Scotland landscape, I would like to share with you some of the races I used to race in my area for when you’ll travel to Dolomites! I choose the following races mainly for their peculiarities and because they are all in my region.
Matteo Tesser
Sali e Scendi Marmolada (July 10th)
The race starts from Malga Ciapela Village (1480mt), crosses the Marmolada mountain through a Saddle at 2700mt (where usually you find a lot of snow)  and arrives to Canazei Village (1450mt).
Given the symmetry of the race, if you are in Canazei, you can do the race also in reverse, so take care of the first racers descending toward you while you are still climbing (at least for me!)

Transcivetta (July 17th)
The peculiarity of this race is that  is that must be run by teams of two persons (that must pass together at the check points). Hence there are three categories females/males/mixed.
The race has a positive ascent 1950mt in 23KM: it starts form Listolade  (700mt)  a small village near Agordo, it touches 2250 mt and finishes at Piani di pezzè (1500mt) an amusement area near Alleghe, where a big party is done after the race.  The race is quite popular (it is capped to 500 teams) given the wonderful landscape of the Civetta complex.

La caminada poi sie refugi  (August 7th)
In the local slang, the run name means  “The Walk trough  the six mountain houses”.  It is located on one of the most amazing group of the Dolomites, the “Tre Cime di Lavaredo” near the border with Austria.

The race starts  at Misurina lake (1700mt) and after 30 KM aside of the Tre Cime mountain and 1150 positive ascent, finish at Auronzo town (850mt). Do not do it if you hate descent: close to the end of the race you will have to face in few kms a 1400 mt descent.

Transpelmo (September 4th)
The race is the round trip around the basis of Pelmo mountain.  The people from the valley call it “il caregon del padre eterno” that means “the god’s armchair”.
The name comes from the fact that the Pelmo seems a big armchair

Pelmo

The race is only 15 KM mainly on rocky paths, with a positive ascent 1250mt.
