Around 40 Carnethies joined the other guests at John and
Sere's wedding in Tobermory. On the friday night we helped tidy the hall
and then had a good few pints in The Mishnish before returning to the Youth
Hostel for a few more. The late contingent arrived off the boat at 12:30. |
Serena and Moira headed off for a quck run at 8am before
a marathon in the hair dresser.
The rest of us met John at 9am and had a run to the
Lighthose and back across the golf course.
Then John decided to have a swim.
Most of us folllowed. I was asked by a tourist if it
was a charity event!
Serena's parents were waiting patiently for Serena to get ready after
she came back from the hairdresser at 11:55 Leaving only 5 minutes
to get ready.
But at last (12:20) she was ready. But on the way to
the Church we had to wait for a delivery lorry to move out of the way.
She was 27 minutes late. But there was a lovely service
in the very small church with the guests inside and outside. The bridesmaids
were beautiful.
The piper played as the couple left the church in
showeres of rose petals.

Then it was in the cars and off to Loch Na Keil
For a typical Scottish misty gathering
A short service was said and a couple of songs and
poems before john walked Sere onto a cow pat.
And the he knelt in it a a sign of his love.
They togged up in suitable garb and canoed across
the Loch

A happy family with Storm in the middle.
Then there were games and we lit the fire.
Well we eventually lit the fire.
There was a goood feed at the Aros Hall
Lots of wine and chat.
Pat (one of the Best Men) chats to Sere
The other two do a routine. Talking of running and
Birds, and blow away hair.
The cake was cut. Luckily it got there in one piece
after it was transported across Tobermory in the back of John's camper
van .
The Tobermory Gaelic Choir sang a few songs
John and Sere sang and danced along with the choir
Pat sang a few songs.
The Italian flag was paraded
The next morning we went for walks and runs and ended
back in Tobermory where the Sere's brother and sister shouted to us from
a window.
Before we headed for the ferry.
Sere's father borrowed John's "see-you-jimmy" hat.
Before we said our farewells we had a group photo.
What a weekend!
