Scottish Borders Winter Cross Country results
On Sunday 24th Jill Tait won the Borders XC race series. But only just! Due to late arrival at the last race at Berwick, she was playing catch-up and was just beaten into 2nd place by Isobel Knox. This meant she was equal to Isobel in series points with 5 each, but the organisers awarded Jill the prize due to the margin of her race wins.
Willie Mykura was about 5th Vet in the series.

    CHAPELGILL
Kate Jenkins was first lady at Chapellgill.
Paul Morris was 11th, Willie Mykura was 12th and Gordon Cameron was 14th.

    Report from Paul
"In the children's race Ffion Muhl (4yrs 7mnths) beat her elder sister Jennifer (7yrs), with Caitlin Morris (5yrs 4mnths) in about 17th (last) place. In terms of fun, I think Caitlin won hands down, but as her Dad I am biased. Caitlin has promised a full race report to follow for the newsletter.
On the much less interesting issue of the "main race" all I know is that I was 11th in 25mins 30secs or thereabouts, and Willie Mykura was just behind me. I think around 28 people ran. Sorry to be so vague, but I enjoyed it too much to worry about anything other than beating Willie!"

    THE CATERAN TRAIL
Our intrepid adventurers, Nigel Rose and Jim McWhinnie, spent the weekend exploring the Cateran Trail - a new long distance footpath in Perthshire. The first day took them through 30 miles of farmyards, forests and floods from Bridge of Cally to near Spittal of Glenshee. An overnight bivvy in the hills resulted in the disappearance of a large quantity of malt whisky. The second day took them 20 miles over the hills and snowfields to Kirkmichael before getting seriously lost on the last two miles back to Bridge of Cally.

    PRESIDENTIAL PERIGRINATION
8 people turned up for Colin's run. It was good fun though, we had to run to opposite sides of Pentland hills to collect points. There were different check points on either side of most of the hills and the had to be collected in pairs. This made for some interesting round or over decisions. Keith Burns and Mark James won with 11 points.
