We didn’t need the factor 30 that Gordon found in the kit box – and anyway it would have washed off in the downpour that greeted the start of the half marathon. It reverted to misty for the marathon start with an easterly wind. Margaret was spotted on the start line, hoping for a sub 6 hours time again – she beat it by a minute last year. Good running all!
Great to see the Carnethy Race Crew at the Edinburgh Marathon this year. Many thanks to you all!
Very cold and wet at start, but I was able to remove my woolly hat at mile four. I finished in 5:41.59 and am pleased with this. It’s almost 35 mins better than the Rome Marathon in March and 18 mins better than Edinburgh last year. The sun did come out in East Lothian and (not having brought Gordon’s sun cream) I’ve got sunburnt on my neck and arms. The joys of Scottish weather!
