Last Saturday was the Falkland hill race and it was very difficult. It started in the small village of Falkland and we ran straight up the hill East Lomond. At first we thought the race would have been very easy, as the best times for the adult race were around 20 minutes, but we then were told that the junior race was all the way to the top as well! It took a while – about 30 minutes to get all the way to the top I passed holly on the way up, but very near the end she caught up to me. I was able to keep ahead of her until very near the end, when I beat her to a line of concrete on the ground, where someone was standing, saying “Well done, that’s great, well done!” and I stopped, as I was a tiny bit in front of holly, but then they said the finish was further on and Holly sped past me, and, try as I might, I could not catch her over the last few metres till the end. However, Holly did well, being the second women and first junior. She also got a large box of sports gels, with a little booklet about mountain biking! We are both looking forward to the next race now, as our sibling rivalry has reached a new level! Further up the field were Steven Fallon, 4th, my Dad in 25th and Duncan Davis in 29th.
