The very social group followed the Braid Burn through the Hermitage and along to the west end of Braid Burn Valley. Our circular (oval) route took us on a variety of paths on the south side of the Burn going out and the north side on the return leg. This included a quick dash to the top of Blackford Hill before returning over the golf course to KB. Many thanks to Willie for a great run.

Turnout for the faster run was fairly low last night, with just Chris B, Neil and myself heading for a slightly faster jaunt round the southside. No matter, we managed to keep ourselves amused on the way round chit-chatting about whatever (clearly not running fast enough!). First to Blackford, then Craiglockarts, Dreghorn, Swanston, Mortonhall then back to KB. One interesting point from the evening is that none of us really know the Pentlands as well as we think we do. 7pm run – Easter, Easter, Wester Craiglockhart 11 of us set out for a Craiglockhart run. A developing cold interfered with my ability to follow my nose with consequential effects on navigation, starting with a less direct route the Hermitage Doocot. 3 quick laps of the doocot were too fast for the GPS. We then headed off to comprehensively cover Easter Criaglockhart. Most of us went to the summit while Richard went off to explore the paths to the north, followed by various rescue parties. Having covered most of the hill and the duck pond we had our first mutiny resulting in a second ascent of the hill on the direct west approach from the tennis centre. Braidburn Valley park was time to head down for home or go up. The “no” show of hands seemed to mean up. We somehow fell off the track round the Braids.Almost home and in sight of the council depot Bob led a second mutiny to see the observatory again. Michael Wilkinson |
