It was just over a week ago that I decided that this year’s race should go ahead. So after a quick reccie and a few emails to Borders Forest Trust the race was on.
It was the first time the race has been held on the anniversary day of John Blair-Fish’s death 4th September 2013. With 6 Marshals we were well prepared for the 4 runners that turned up to race.
The last to arrive managed to push an off road push chair half way to the Beeftub before abandoning it on the hillside, after taking the contents out I hasten to add!
So 15 minutes late the runners headed off up the slope as the spectators (4 children and 1.8 others) watched from the sunny grass.
The finish order was sorted on the first climb and conditions were excellent for the run.
Watching the figures picking their way down Great Hill was entertaining as ever and all runners finished with a smile.
The 1 year old spectator enjoyed the handfuls of Sheep Poo that were in abundance, so the first aid kit wipes came in handy.
Thanks to my Marshals, Pete Cain, Jamie Taylor, Richard Chandler, Keith Burns and Moira Stewart.
And Thanks to the runners that turned up and enjoyed the race.
