James Waldie was first and Andrew Gilmore second at the Bishop Hill Race.
The weather was foul on the drive up North with sleet, wind and 2C, however once over the Forth the sun came out and the weather stayed fine for the race. There were about a dozen Carnethies at the Portmoak village hall for registration, although the overall field this year was smaller at 67 runners.
The race is as it says on the tin; short and sharp. The start from a random patch in the Kinneswood forest above Scotlandwell is followed very quickly by a dip in and out of a ditch before reaching a runnable track up to the gate at the half way point. The juniors (10 to 16 year olds) turn here, and I was beaten to the gate by the eventual junior winner. (Note to self, must try harder at Thursday Wintervals).
Once on the hillside the NW wind was chilly, however it was a short climb to White Craigs before the fast descent back to the finish.
Back in the village hall the spicy soup cleared the last of the snot from my sinuses, followed by tea with scones and jam, before the prize giving to round off an excellent afternoon out.
