Well, what a night that was! Who knew we would be discussing programming/scripting languages at the AGM?
A summary of the events are:
– Nick Macdonald was nominated by Graham Nash for life membership. A vote was held and the motion was approved. Congratulations to Nick! Very well deserved for all that he does, and has done, for the club. He joins a small group of Carnethy heroes, seen here!
– Jonny Muir presented the idea of running the highest points of the 17 Edinburgh council boundaries. It’s part of a larger idea coming from Runners World, and Jonny was looking to lead something in Edinburgh and looking for a bit of support.
New faces on the committee!
The committee going forward now looks a little like this:
President Jim Hardie
Secretary John Ryan
Treasurer Neil Burnett
Membership Helen Wise
Journal Margaret Forrest
Webber Digby Maass
Ladies Captain Rachel Normand/Newstead
Mens Captain John Busby
Ordinary Member #1 Mark Hartree
Ordinary Member #2 Euan Boyd
Ordinary Member #3 Sean Walker
A massive thanks to our outgoing committee members. Thank you for all the work you’ve done!
Jasmin (and bump), Konrad, Lisa Gamble/Boyd and Simon Titmuss.
Also a massive thanks to Willie Gibson, outgoing president and Mr Carnethy himself. If anyone thinks he’ll not be the man to go to when the new president screws it all up, then they’ll certainly be mistaken!
So, with new committee members comes a new opportunity to get them to do stuff! Any ideas or suggestions, or anything at all, then now’s a good time to get them in. Good luck to John Ryan after taking the role as secretary. It’s a big job, so any help you can offer will be very well received! I can think of nobody more professional than John Ryan, and you can guarantee we’ll not end up doing something stupid. No sirree! Anyway, here’s a photo.
As for me, well I’ll be ditching all of my responsibilities, and just sit around threatening war with North Korea via Twitter.
Thanks everyone who came along last night! Here’s to 2018! Cheers!
Jim
