Thanks to all that came along to the AGM this year!
The minutes will be posted in due course.
The main topics are that:
– The committee will not change for 2017!
– Mark Hartree gets the London Marathon place.
Also, it seemed wrong to see 2016 roll-by without marking Jasmin’s record breaking series of 24hr rounds. There is no award to do these rounds, no wee keepsake, so the committee thought that a small token was required. Annoyingly, she’s so quick that she’s even posted a photo and thanks before I even get to announce it! Many thanks to Ross Christie for designing three posters, and framing them.
The other issue on the night was the club awards. See below for the nominees (as nominated on the night). A secret ballot took place for each category, and the winners will be announced at the Christmas Party. Congratulations to all nominees, as even a nomination is something to be very proud of.
Burns Scott Trophy
Who? | Reason |
Shane Bouchier | For finally giving up the Skyline! After many years of valued effort, and fantastic organization, of course. |
Jim Hardie | Mainly for excessive emailing, but generally for being secretary. |
Margaret Forrest | For her excellent Journal editing! |
Mike Lynch | “Sartorial Elegance”, i.e. doing a fantastic job organizing our kit for so long. |
Scald Law Trophy
Who? | Reason |
Jasmin Paris | For being Jasmin, mainly. Secondly, for running the Bob Graham, Ramsay and Paddy Buckley rounds, setting records as she goes. Also, UTMB. And baking cakes. |
The “Petite Trotte à Léon” team of Olly Stephenson Jason Hubert Graham Nash |
For running the Petite Trotte à Léon race. Additionally overcoming problems such as: breaking their spine (Olly), falling off a mountain beforehand (Jason) and being very hairy (Graham). |
7 Beers Team of Jim Hardie Graham Nash |
For setting the 7 Hills and Beers record, beating the previous record by around 50mins. Dedicated training (Jim learning how to drink using online tutorials) and being very hairy (Graham). |
John Hammond | For devising a monster route round the top 10 highest mountains in the UK. Then, running that route with minimal support over several days, setting a very high marker for anyone that wishes to beat it. |
Graham Nash | Setting records (above), running impossibly long races (above). Specifically nominated for his “Wintry” Ramsay Round earlier this year. |
Stewart Whitlie | Winning the SHR championship over 50s category (also being joint 3rd in the over 40s, and 11th overall in the Senior Category) |
Nick Williamson | Coniston Triathlon success, and elite result in the 3 Peaks Cyclocross. |
John Ryan | For completing and setting the record for the Dennis Rankin round. |
JBF Overseas Trophy
Who? | Reason |
Jim Hardie | For his 3rd place (age category) at the Bronx XC. The club secretary was particularly impressed with Jim’s running, and congratulates him on behalf of Carnethy HRC. |
Jasmin Paris | For her 6th lady, 51st overall at the UTMB. Also, 1st lady and 18th overall at the Tromso Skyrace. |
Helen Bonsor | For winning the Eiger Ultratrail, and for her podium place at the Tromsdalstind Sky race. |
John Ryan | For completing and setting the record for the Dennis Rankin round. |
Konrad Rawlik | For his excellent run in the Tromso Skyrace, and also the Trofeo Kima Ultra Sky Marathon. |
Gregor Heron | For his fantastic UTMB run! |
Iain Whiteside | For his human centipede run in San Francisco. |
Allermuir Junior Trophy
Who? | Reason |
Charlie Burnett | For beating his dad in the Caerketton Doonhiller. The AGM agree that this is probably the start of many wins against his dad, and also a sign of great things to come. |
Euan Burns | For his fantastic handicap running this year! Specifically when he managed to recover from being lost at the Eddleston Handicap. The AGM thought that his judgement was remarkable, and far superior to most other Carnethies if put in the same situation. |
Finlay Hartree | For completing the Alternative Carnethy 5 series, in encouraging others from his rugby team to come along. |
Archie Lynch | For his continual running improvement. Specifically winning Tinto junior race last year, and for his recent parkrun PB of under 23 mins- a PB that many adults in the club would kill for! |
Thanks!
Jim
