Sums it up!
No records broken as for the second year running we had extremely testing conditions for the race. The snow wasn’t quite as deep, but with the extremely strong wind and sleet at lower levels it was probably worse (at least for the marshalls!). That didn’t stop 472 runners from finishing the race and Finlay Wild (Lochaber) winning from Tom Addison of Helm Hill Runners with Andrew Douglas of Inverclyde third. Five times race winner Rob Jebb of Bingley was first Over 40 in 4th. However, Helm Hill Runners really were out in force taking both the men’s and women’s team honours – look after that Claymore! Not only that, Hannah Russell of Helm Hill was first in the ladies race just in front of holder Charlotte Morgan of Carnethy (who took the Over 40s prize as consolation). There were three runners this year who were awarded a Quaich for completing 21 races and all were from Westerlands ! The list of all 21 race (and more) completers is here.
Conditions didn’t favour photography during the race, or even keeping your eyes open looking into the blizzard. Here’s a few pics from just off Scald Law and Charlies Loup. Another wild video here (Facebook). Katrina Johnstone’s photos on Facebook here. Results here
