A group of fast Carnethies and I went down to Peebles this week for the second in the Borders Hill Series. Following from last week’s Handicap, the curse of the Wednesday night continued – lovely weather during the day, with cloud and rain as the race started.
It always feel like ‘cheating’ doing a race during the week – getting an event, without using a weekend day up.
The race started with a rather random lap of the park – perhaps just to space out the pack. It then goes out through the ‘suburbs’ of Peebles before gently climbing up to Craigs Head – 250m over 4km. The gentle gradient meant that it was runnable all the way. I found myself hoping for a steep bit and a bit of a break from the running. The descent was great and gave a chance to really stretch the legs. The flat road at the end was a bit hard after the gentle downhill, before the final sprint through the park back to the finish.
All-in-all a nice low key race.
Results to follow.
