A large group of Carnethies travelled down to Eastbourne to run this popular off-road Marathon over the South Downs and Beachy Head. First home for the club was Hilary Spenceley in an excellent 4hrs 24:33 (her first Marathon distance race for 30 years – though she has run longer races). Patricia Macmaster was next in 4:46:50, followed by Moira Stewart in 4:47:53. Peter Baxter completed the course in 5hrs 18:17 with Senga Plain next to finish in 6hrs 08:42. Regular Beachy Head Marathon finisher, Margaret Forrest finished in a good time of 6:58:44, then Karen Meikle and Kirsty Louden completed the Carnethy contingent with a joint 7:47:46.
