I just wanted to send a massive thanks out to all the helpers who made todays Manor Water race happen. Not only from the club, but the locals, the farmers, and the Manor Sheepdodg trials Committee who all helped things pass so smoothly. I dont think it can be said often enough, that without these people we would be not running these fantastic races!
We had excellent conditions, and by the end of the day I was left not only sunburned, but exhausted. However my interpretation of ‘exhausted’ probably needs to be measured against James Waldie’s efforts…
My lasting memory of this race will be seeing James ‘bounding home’ to take the course record off Brian Marshall (set in 2006) by 39 seconds, then literally collapsing, not being able to breathe for a good 2 minutes. It was clear how much effort it had taken to break the record, and shows what an impressive run Brian had 10 years ago.

So well done James, now you need to come back next year to defend it, in the race’s 25th running!A sparkling day with good conditions underfoot. Fabulous views. In spite of dropping my camera and running back some way to find it I didn’t manage to be last. I thought I was going to be sick holding off a determined challenge by the rest of my category, but his shoe came off in some mud and I surged to an ill deserved M60 victory. James Waldie won in a record time. Dougie Milligan, who surprised our category by not being in it, won the M70, having in previous years won the M40, M50 and M60. A remarkable record! Gina won the ladies prize. A low turnout of juniors ensured prizes all round, in early training for pot hunting. We may have lost the Broughton Brewery sponsorship but tradition was well satisfied with a nice mix of beers to choose from with a bottle for every finisher. Mark your diary for next year which will be the 25th running of the race. Results here
