Once again the Scottish Islands Peaks Race is looking for volunteers to help with marshalling the race over all or part of the long weekend of Friday 20th May to Monday 23rd 2016.
Marshals are required for Oban, Mull, Jura and Arran and their duties include putting out and taking in checkpoints markers, timing runners in and out and checking runners’ mandatory kit. Marshalling is done on a rota basis allowing marshals plenty of time to go off and do their own thing on some of Scotland’s beautiful islands. Some marshals choose to do both Mull on Friday and Arran on Saturday and Sunday.
Transport to and from the islands will be coordinated by the Island Leaders and reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed. Marshals camp on Mull but on Jura have the use of the community hall and on Arran have the use of both the Yacht Club and the RNLI Station.
Carnethy Hill Running Club also receive a donation from the race in recognition of marshals’ services.
Anyone interested marshalling just contact us by email on macdonald_tigharry@yahoo.co.uk. More details about the race itself can be found on our web or Facebook Page.
