Five Carnethies headed south to the rolling hills of the Scottish Borders on Sunday. A much smaller field than last year assembled to run the route clockwise. I had heard that this was a lot harder than anti-clockwise. Les the race organiser confirmed this in his pre-race chat (cue lots of theatrical groans from the runners). He went on to detail HOW MUCH harder it was – even the Curr was worse he reckoned (cue more theatrical groans). Anyway, off we went. Andrew Normand was so relieved to be released from having to listen to my dodgy choice of music all the way down that he cantered round to win in 1hr13. Mike Andrew was first V50 in 1hr20. Gio MacDonald ran 1hr32. Jane Jackson was first female in 1hr39. I was 3rd female which impressed my husband no end until I came clean and confessed that only 4 women actually ran the race. The views were stupendous and the race raised £190 for the Borders Search and Rescue Team. Results here
