A great low key race over some challenging terrain. A couple of swamps sucked me in and refused to let go. Heather and tussocks ruled the later stage of the race though I did miss a runnable section after Wolf Crags. Missed it on all the previous reccies and runs too. Most of the rest was soft and soggy.
Nicola’s review reads – “Baddinsgill Race report: “squelch squelch squelch splosh ARGH SPLAT squelch squelch splash effing heather squelch squelch” There. Sorted.”
Still, did get 1st V60 as the really fast 59 year olds are still just that, and they disappeared into the distance early on. I like a race with full category prizes – it’s nice to get a prize, deserved or not, and since there was only one other V60 it wasn’t very deserved, but if there’d been 3 of us, we’d all have got one!
The prize table had a gratifying number of beery prizes sponsored by local brewery Freewheelin’, and Run & Become vouchers. Liam Braby was 2nd overall, Michelle Hetherington 1st female & 1st FV50 beating Heather Young who was 1st in her category (F senior) in which she was alone (I know; complicated)
More people should do this race (not MV 60s obviously) – don’t be put off by the warnings about car parking, it’s not as difficult as it sounds and everyone seemed to get parked nearby.
