A 5 mile/1,200 foot fell race in glorious weather from the Craven Arms Inn at Appletreewick (near Skipton, Yorkshire) to the top of Simon’s Seat, a granite tor on the moor and back. To cross the finishing line required the compulsory downing of a pint. With a pint, water melon, and soup all included in the £6 entry fee, the good folk of Yorkshire might concede a bargain.
