On Saturday I ran the Carmichael Challenge – based at the Carmichael Estate near Biggar it is probably best described as a trail race without much actual trail. Instead we chased through woods and fields following flapping red and white strings of plastic while trying hard not to turn an ankle on the rough ground underfoot. It was pretty good actually, with a lot of variation for a short race (10k), mostly flattish with one short steep tussocky climb. The winner was a chap from Annan and District AC in 46:17, and I was proud to be first (only) Carnethy at 54:22 (2nd lady). Andrew David Gilmour (unattached) also ran but spotting no other Carnethy vests, and seeing no affiliation on the results sheet I am assuming not a Carnethy Gilmour! Apologies if I’m wrong.
