Those Post-LAMM Blues
(to be sung soulfully)
No more lochans to navigate by.
No more stunning views of Benn Eighe.
No more bogs that go waist high.
No more deer just dashing by.
And I’ve got those post-LAMM blues.
Now I’ve got to throw out another pair of shoes.
Oh, I’ve got those post-LAMM blues.
Another year to wait to see which hills they will choose.
My shoulders hurt.
My neck is burnt.
Midge bites all o’er my skin.
They even bit my on my ‘Jim’.
And I’ve got those post-LAMM blues.
Now I’ve got to throw out another pair of shoes.
Oh, I’ve got those post-LAMM blues.
Another year to wait to see which hills they will choose.
I’ve ate my fill of Smash.
I’ve ate all my sweetie stash.
I’ve compared my splits.
And done in-depth route analysis.
And I’ve got those post-LAMM blues.
Now I’ve got to throw out another pair of shoes.
Oh, I’ve got those post-LAMM blues.
Another year to wait to see which hills they will choose.
I’ve got those post LAMM blues: knowing I’ve a whole year to wait till the next one. It’s like I’m a wee boy again, realising that Christmas is over.
There were plenty of Carnethy members running in the 20th Anniversary LAMM up in Strathcarron: the sunniest part of the UK this weekend, or so it felt! In the Elite class, Jon Ascroft and Steven Fallon finished third, despite Steven being ill for the second half of the first day. Alex McVey and John Ryan had a blistering second day to finish 5th overall in the A class. Also in A, Euan Boyd and partner Jason King finished a solid 12th. The B class saw Jeff Roberts and my old maths lecturer Julian Hall make 6th, with Helen and Heather also running. Alongside Megan and myself in the C were Lorna Ascroft and her partner Sarah Warren, Mary and Matt, and Joanne Anderson and Kate Crowe! Obviously the class to be in! Finally, Matt Davis and Craig Mattocks finished 6th in the Score class. Phew – sorry if I’ve missed anyone out!
Many thanks to Andy and Angela for planning another excellent set of courses, with special gratitude(?) for the epic second day of the C course! And of course to Martin and all the helpers involved in such a great event.
