11 people made the journey to Tinto Hill for a recce at the weekend, including some new and some long-term members. The weather was crisp and clear, but with a biting wind from the north – not a day for hanging around on the summit for too long! That said, we did anyway, and shared a packet of fudge to see us down the descent. On the final run-in we met a walker that had either broken or badly sprained their ankle. Unable to walk, a bold and brave team of Carnethies lifter her down the final section to a waiting ambulance. The episode highlighted a few things, the main one was that we were terrible at safe lifting practices. No matter, we didn’t drop her that often, and I think everyone was glad when we got back to the car park, not least her! With a run complete, a hilliside reccied, and a good deed done, the only thing left was to retire to the Tinto Café for hot tea, scones and strawberry tarts. A fine wee morning!
