The combined AGM of the Running and Racing clubs were held on 15th November, at a new location, the Cabaret Bar at the Pleasance.
Some highlights:
Presidential Address:
Jim summarised 30 webpages in 40 minutes. The condensed version of Jim’s summary reads as follows: Jim finished about 50th in the Celtman in June. Other noteworthy achievements were also noted, worthily.
Secretary’s Report
I sent fewer emails in the last year than Jim did in his last year as secretary. In response to feedback (received on the Halloween run) I have made the font larger in my emails, with the result that more cyber-trees will die. Apologies for 11 months and 2 weeks of illegible communication. I continue to avoid exclamation marks.
Treasurer’s Report
We have a greater surplus than the committee feel is necessary and would welcome suggestions by email to the secretary, on ways to blow this cash reinvest some of this money for the benefit of the club and it’s members.
Captains’ Report
Rachel and John highlighted the achievements of the year, of which there were many.
Webmaster’s Report
Digby informed us of over 46 thousand users of the website in the last year before telling us that it is not clear what a user is. Deleting 1.3 million inode files is a difficult task. The brass section of Portsmouth Symphonia have room to improve.
Membership Secretary
Our membership stands at 342 individuals and 44 Family/social members, of which 122 are female, the remainder assumed to be male as no member identified as non-binary in 2018. The racing club has 104 members. The ‘average’ Carnethy is 43 years old and is called Andrew. Subscriptions from 2019 onwards will be online only through EntryCentral.
Subscriptions remain unchanged for 2019
