Good mix of weather last week, sun, rain, hail, snow, wind, no wind. Good to hear some folk are making it round in small groups to run. Ali, Marcus, Liam & Sandy sounded like they had a fun race round and all recorded good times.
I fortuitously met Andy L before the start and had a much improved run, he just pipped me on the last straight which served as a good reminder of how good these handicaps can be when it’s a group finish.
There have been a few emails asking whether the race can be kept at least partly as a virtual event, we’ve lots of people that have joined over the past year that can’t make Mondays. I’m very keen for this to primarily be a monday lunchtime race, as is the tradition, and the joy of a handicap is obviously the mix of abilities all racing to the finish together. That said, I’ll likely keep it open for people to submit times during the weekend before. Will confirm details once it is possible to restart Mondays.
It’s also been noted that it is nesting season and the advice from park rangers is to try and avoid areas used by nesting birds and stick to paths. I’ll leave this to everyone’s discretion.
Oh & well done to Marcus for rudely beating me to the top spot.
