From Bob Johnson:
Yes it’s that time of year again – the “Alternative Carnethy 5” is NEXT WEEK! YOU CAN TAKE PART – ALL you have to do is to complete 5 events in 5 days!
The events have been set-up by our super-keen committee as follows:-
- Monday 8th September: Arthur’s Seat Sprint (c/o Iain Whiteside and Michael Reid)
- Tuesday 9th September: Allermuir Uphill Race (Jim Hardie plus Graham Nash)
- Wednesday 10th September: Caerketton Doonhill Race (Mark Johnston)
- Thursday 11th September: Bonaly Trail Race (Mike Lynch)
- Friday 12th September: Captains Mystery Challenge (Iain Whiteside and Helen Wise)
The BONUS is that you get the following weekend in order to complete the events if you need it. Thus you must complete all 5 events between 0700 on Monday 8th Sept and midnight on Sunday 14th September. The awards/results will be presented on Wednesday 17th September at KB.
All events are SELF-TIMED and you must report your times to me by midnight of Sunday 14th. I will then apply the “MAGICAL” scoring/levelling system that ensures that the usual ultra-quick suspects can’t win. The scoring system involves squaring numbers and other such mathematical jiggery-pokery such that a well-deserving winner is found.
All info is posted on (probably) the best running website in the UK: carnethy.com/alternative-carnethy-5.
HAVE A GO – you’ve got nothing to LOSE (other than fat and dignity) and everything to GAIN (like sore calves, inflated lungs, blisters and that elusive thing called “speed”)……….
