An ominous forecast of humid air, heat and electric storm failed to deliver anything troublesome other than the heat, although there were ominous rumblings towards the closing stages of the race. The rewards were dramatic skies over this exquisite village and surrounding hills, where the race organisers deliver a fabulous tough course over quiet hills far away from the growing commercialism of mass participation, media coverage, flagged courses and exorbitant entry fees. The food in the village hall was its usual high quality. Half an hour after the prize giving the village returned to its bucolic sleep mode with not a trace of the afternoon’s intruders. Carnethy’s single racing representative was Trevor Collins on one of his occasional MOT tests. He passed with no major defects or advisories. Results are here
