Margaret’s photos
After the great pleasure of meeting Margaret for the first time at ‘Not the Carnethy 5’ night run and subsequently at registration of the ‘Carnethy 5′, she most definitely persuaded me to come along to my first Ladies Run. Nine Carnethy ladies’ (Margaret, Moi, Karen, Patricia, Nicki, Ina, Mairi, Karin and myself) ran from Margaret’s house in Colinton on a cold, clear and starry evening. Our run took us through several sights: the Water of Leith, Woodhall Farm, Tiphereth, Torphin Hill Golf Course (now closed), Torduff Reservoir, Bonaly Country Park (where we met Bill), the shoulder of White Hill, underpass under the city (A720) bypass, ‘Polofields’ (new development of luxury homes), through Covenanters’ Wood and back to Margarets’ via her back garden! It was a great introduction to the Ladies Run, a beautiful evening and with great company. Post-run we had some tasty tomato and bean soup, chicken mulligatawny soup, freshly baked bread, chocolate brownies and oat cookies. The highlight of the evening was celebrating Bill’s 82nd birthday to be on Friday 20th February – what a smile (see Bill and chocolate brownies photo)!
