Excellent to see the first group run last Monday, I failed yet again to make it, in fact I failed to get out at all. Pints as well!!!
First run with the new fence blocking the start route, Kai is convinced it makes it faster as it forces you to hop the wooden fence. It sounds like most folk opted to jump, although the state of that climb with long grass I’d be interested to see the time difference taking the longer runnable line. If you aren’t comfortable risking an impaling, I don’t think it will affect the time greatly, hopefully it doesn’t put you off.
Jamie was in unstoppable form, taking 11 and a half minutes off his July time, tuning up nicely for Glenshee 9. Well done to Gordon going under his handicap too, I believe he took the longer route.
(I think a few other folk ran the route last week – just a reminder to email me if you want me to add you to the results)
Jamie’s report:
The sun shone, the ice cream vans were out, and Historic Scotland had built the kind of fence-like wall across the start that only Donald Trump would have been proud of!
That turned the start into a steeplechase. With no option other than leaping over the rickety wooden fence!
At least 4 in-person, real-life, in the flesh runners in the handicap race today… finish orders will change by the time the final results are published by Anthony at end of week and the virtual ghosts are added in!
To tempt more folk out next month here’s a few photos of the finish and refreshments at the Kilderkin afterwards!
