The Classic Quarter is a 44 mile trail run along the sunny South Cornish Coast and can be completed as a solo, 2 or 4 person relay. The route starts from Lizard Point and finishes at Lands End, split into 4 legs some bits rougher than other bits, with great scenery and a friendly atmosphere the whole way. So long as you keep the sea on your left you shouldn’t go the wrong way. Cali Ingham, Kate Crowe, Paula Drouet and Moi Stewart ran as a 4 person relay and I ran as part of a 2 person relay with Ally Martin from Cornwall. I set off from Lizard Point with Cali who handed over to Kate when the sun came out on leg 2. So we all got a bit of a suntan as well as a good run. The coastline as you would imagine has lots of ups and downs (with nice big steps at bits), so the route is varied and interesting. Perranuthnoe is half way and although I was enjoying the run was glad to get there. You pass through a few lovely villages along the route. Ally took over from me to run to Lands End and Kate passed over to Paula who did the bit with most road before letting Moi run leg 4 which is probably the roughest bit. Everyone got a big cheer at the finish.
A great day out was had by everyone and we finished the day listening to the Sea Shanty Festival in Falmouth after getting pizza and free cider from a local! The rest of the weekend involved a daily swim in the sea, recovery runs and more music festivals. A great trail run and weekend away. A big thank you to Paula and Tom for looking after us all so well.
