This was the 67th running of the Mountain Trial which is steeped in fell running history and is a one day navigation race with short/med or classic distances to choose from.
I was back to try my luck after an idiotic navigation error in 2019. I think I was the only Carnethy and there weren’t many Scots there at all.
This time I dropped down to the medium course and had a great day out. There were plenty of route choices to be made. One ‘interesting’ part was effectively joining the Hellvellyn Triathlon run route up Swirral Edge which was on at the same time. There were some confused triathletes as we disappeared off at the top to do our thing.
