Five Carnethys took part in the latest virtual challenge from scottishathletics over the weekend. This one involved running as far as you could in 30mins.
Highest placed Carnethy was Andrew Macrae who covered 8.22km out & back on the canal to Ratho. Bruce went for the three attempts approach, perhaps hoping to get fitter on every one since he’s coming back from injury. Conditions were generally hot, just to make it a bit tougher!
Carnethy Results (out of 316 finishers)
26. Andrew Macrae 8.22km
40. Mark Johnston 8.07km
69. Mike Reid 7.70km
75. Neil McLure 7.64km
99. Bruce Smith 7.34km
We came 7th men’s team out of 33 which was a good effort given we’re all ‘Masters’
Next virtual challenge is the hill climb challenge devised by our very own Angela. Entries are open already and it will take place from Friday 19th June to Monday 22nd June. The format is to do as much climb as you can in 30mins on a hill no more than 100m in ascent (to make it fair for those not in range of big hills!). You’ve to start roughly where you finish so downhill speed is just as important (luckily!). Hopefully we can get a good turnout as it should suit us a bit better than just flat speed!
