It was my first time at this race. None of the clan were available to race, but the mention of soup and cakes at the end were enough to entice some of the family to this local-ish race.
The Carnethy contingent was small, but perfectly formed – myself, Neil Burnett and Graham and Andrew Nash. Graham had prepared by taking part in the High Peak Marathon, a 42-mile race in the dark and mud 2 days previously.
The race starts in a forest, and goes up a muddy track to some moorland, and then steeply up the hill to the summit of White Craigs beside a radar station. The descent was fast, muddy and needed plenty of concentration to stay upright.
The post race spread was excellent, with soup, scones and tablet.
The Nash household did well, Graham was first, and we think Andrew was second in the junior race. Detailed results to follow.
Many thanks to Lomond Hill Runners for putting on a great race.
