It was a hot, sticky day for the first Martin Hyman Memorial Race, held on a tough 6 mile course from Dreghorn, that included Allermuir (twice), Caerketton and Capelaw. Martin was an superb athlete, running in the Commonwealth Games and Olympics over 6miles/10km (the reason for the race distance) in the 1960s and became a well known coach, including timing the Meadows Tuesday Interval Sessions for over 40 years and coaching international orienteering and hill running squads, plus organising many races. Not a large field, but all coped with tough conditions. Quite a few Carnethies ran and some good results including Iain W 4th; Mark J 1st O/50; Ester 3rd & Lizzie 4th women and Hilary finished 2nd O/60 (and 1st O/65). Results on SHR web site here.
