One of the UKs best Mountain runners, Andrew Douglas, set a new record of 17:36 in easily winning the Caerketton Hill Race. Perhaps this was helped by some altitude training as on Sunday, Andrew had had a superb run in finishing 6th in the top European Mountain Race, the 30km Sierre-Zinal race in Switzerland (won by the world’s best mountain runner – Kilian Jornet). Perhaps Andrew was using the Sierre-Zinal to peak for Caerketton ?? Another record was also set as 114 finished the race – the largest field ever (the previous being 109 on the old course). The women’s race was a battle of the Catriona’s as Catriona Grave held off the experienced Catriona Morrison.
Some photos from this evening’s Carnethy Championship and Bog & Burn race. Wonky and out of focus but I blame the lighting. It’s only 2.2 miles but I feel well exercised. Great turnout as ever and some new Carnethy faces. A video from the race here.
