60 Carnethies for last night’s 3rd Handicap in the series, Caper Over Capelaw Knowe. The weather was stunning; blue skies, warm sunshine and no midgies. It doesn’t get any better.
This was a new route, and I was a little concerned that folk may go astray and not find some of the lesser trods, but there were no reports of any serious navigation errors and everyone made it back, mostly ahead of their handicap times. Good running conditions, a bit damp underfoot in places from Monday’s downpours, and so hot for some that they took their tops off. You know who you are.
First back was Steve Newman in a run time of 46min 45 secs, closely followed by Pete Cain, and then Rachel Paul 2 minutes later.
With everyone counted safely accounted for, we headed down to Colinton Village to Dantes Italian restaurant for excellent pizza and a few beers.
Thanks to the marshals out at the Stone Seat and the Open Gate, plus Phil for doing the registration and time keeping.
Next handicap is in the Lammermuirs on July 17th.
