Lots of fun as usual at the Comrie Relays. Great running from the Carnethy Men’s A team who came first. Andrew Gilmore was the fastest runner on leg 1 (with a new route due to fallen trees). Ian Gilmore and Eoin Lennon were fastest on leg 2, and broke the record. Mike Reid was fastest on leg 4. Carnethy Ladies were third after Strathearn and Kinross, and the Men’s Vets were second.
The BBQ and abundance of cakes made for convivial post-race analysis. Notable adventures include Jane Jackson losing her shoe and having to snorkel in a bog to retrieve it, then pranging her finger; Helen and Heather eschewing the final stretch of road for a rather more arduous field; Iain W being sent slightly astray by a marshal (yet managing to maintain his team’s lead); and Bob W being felled by an impish Carnethy Junior (captured inadvertently on camera) within seconds of leaving the handover point (wrong team to target Solomon! Go for a Strathearn runner next time…). Well done to all the runners, and thanks to the team captains for organising!
