It is early August, so once again time for this popular, short sharp race which the whole town turns out to support. This gives an almost continental feel as you end up running through cheering crowds while a pipe band plays and the police stopping traffic, not something the average Scottish Hill runner is used to. Every finisher also got an ice cream from the local Fish & Chip Shop (!). Over 230 took part, most were locals, but at the front Iain Gilmore took 2nd place, on his 21st birthday, behind Don Naylor (HBT). Andrew Gilmore was 4th, Charlotte Morgan first woman and, as always, loads of Carnethies ran.
As always, results may be some time.

A good turnout from Carnethy at the Berwick Law Hill Race on a warm, dry evening. Over 230 runners started the race (including one poor bloke who was tripped up seconds after the horn sounded and fell flat on his face on the tarmac). Charlotte Morgan was first lady and there was a battle for first place for the men between Iain Gilmore and Don Naylor but Iain was beaten to the line by about 15 seconds. Still a great achievement to round off Iain’s 21st birthday. Andrew Gilmore finished in 4th place for the men.
There was a rush after the race to the local fish and chip shop to get a free ice cream on production of a race number but not such a rush to the prize giving, as the forecast rain appeared just as the final runners were finishing.
