Tapadh leat Declan for creating a quality route. Fast runnable trails with a steep climb up Green Craig. CP2 on top of Green Craig proved too elusive for some, it is a bit pathless up there, so you are forgiven.
Steve: “A real ‘full gas’ kinda route.”
Tom: “Lovely run!”
Sandra: “Some navigation errors”
We had a few guest runners. Harry Waterhouse from Australia, who looks like Bob, sounds like Bob, but is his twin brother. Mark managed to convince a lady who had just finished a run to join the handicap. Still in road shoes and turned out to be rather good. A future Carnethy member perhaps.
The top handicap finishers were mainly made up of Backmarkers from the previous handicap at Meldons. The Meldons handicap meltdown had thrown the numbers all over the place. Most were zapped by the electric fence in Meldons, so deserved a bit of Bonaly glory.
Thanks to the Forrest team, Margaret and Catherine for finish line support. Loads of photos from Eóin, Lucy and Margaret are on Carnethy Facebook page. Big thanks to Mark for arranging a great post-race venue at the Colinton Inn.
Handicap – Top 3 places:
Congratulations Alex on the win. This was a significant better run than Meldons and one of the faster run times around the course. Ken continues to do well at predicting winners.

The 2022 Handicap Championship: Lizzie Knox still leads, just. 18 runners can still win the championship with only Arthurs Seat remaining. This is because their 2 best scores are within 50 points (the max score per course) of Lizzie’s current high 127.8 points. Only your 3 best runs count in the championship. 11 have completed all 5 courses.
Ladies – Fastest course times
Nicola won plenty of Strava Crowns with this fast handicap run. Fresh from Lakeland 105 miler and now training for Lochaber 80 in September.

Gents – Fastest course times
Sasha clocked fastest time with a solo run Tuesday. Ali the orienteers went the wrong way at start, apparently this doesn’t happen if he has a map.
