Further to Kathy’s recent report…. a quick update from a lowly-second-claim-member-who-still-insists-on-helping-Gordon-at-the-Edinburgh-marathon….
Doubtless lots of Carnethys will be “interested” in competing in next year’s London Marathon on 26th April 2020 so here’s a brief update with regard to fast-fit-for-age entries. Applications for fast places can be made from 7th August to 16th August 2019 as shown in the attached screen grab.
Qualification times vary with age and these are shown attached too. There’s only 6000 places allocated (3000 men and 3000 women) so your chances of getting a place are improved if you’re well below the target time so run fast or get old.
With regard to the race itself I had a right “ding-dong” with (Sir) Mo Farah (he must have been having a bad day) as shown in the official (and-paid-for) photos attached here. I briefly saw the back of Kathy’s Carnethy vest at
about 15 miles but she then took fright (and went quicker) while I slowed down to eventually finish is 3:27:02. Hoping for a top-20 in the old £arts category I was astounded to see that I was 65th in the vet 60-65 category.
Hey-ho, backwards and downwards eh!
For a hill running club, Carnethy fielded quite a few runners so well done to all..
All the best
