As the runners arrived at KB last night, the bar became filled with a plethora of light shows, with LED body cover, skin suits and even Freddie Mercury and his hoover.
34 runners set off and most completed the 13 mile route, with a few joiners en route we got to 40 runners at one point.
Ending up in Alison’s Kitchen for a wonderful feast.
More coming once I remember it.

No cumulative placings for the series yet, but yesterday’s Borders XC at Chirnside won’t have done anyone’s prize prospects any harm at all. Andy Fallas won the race, with Mike Reid in second place. Charlotte Morgan continued her battle with Dianne Lauder, taking the top spot on this occasion (and 8th overall!). That makes it 2 wins apiece heading into 2015, so still everything to play for. Many other good performances from lots of Carnethies.

It was good to see several Carnethies at the Chirnside race of the Borders Cross Country today. The snow and ice had disappeared to ensure the paths were good and muddy. I even felt some warmth with the sun on my back (but maybe that’s a sign, as if I need one, that I was running too slowly?). I persuaded a bystander to take a few photos of our group, but in every one there is a rogue bum and knee photo bombing the image.
Ho hum.

Many thanks to everyone who entered this years Arty/Photo Competition – the task to produce a Carnethy and/or festive themed picture or words using a GPS trace.
Some very impressive and detailed entries where displayed at the bar in KB for all to see (including Bob’s @rse, well it wouldn’t be a photo comp without it). Willie presented each picture in turn for the Carnethy cheerometer to judge. The entries were filtered down to a top 5, and then a top 3 for the final round of the cheerometer.
The overall winner was Mary & Matt’s “Cool Yule Pent(lands)agram”, taking in 5 Pentland summits over some 10.5miles.
Joint second place was Digby’s “Putting a smile on the Bush gang’s Carnethy run, AKA ‘Do I win?'” and Frisbee Jeff’s “Carnethy star”. The winners received a choice of beers or wine.
All entries are awarded a bottle of beer, with junior entries getting a box of chocs. If you couldn’t make it to KB last night, then collect your prize from me at the Christmas party on Monday.

Short run: With Matt & Mary who were late for anything longer or faster, and Cat returning from injury, the more or less usual group had an ‘out of the wind’ potter around the Hermitage; with a visit to Blackford hill top to admire the view and the breeze. Does this trace look a bit like a duck? Digby |
7pm medium run: On a cold, wet and windy night Gordon introduced us to the new game of floG. A few mistakes were made by us novices to the game – more practice is needed! Michael |
Fast run: In honour of the Carnethy GPS Art competition, a small group of runners went out on a mission to create something that would astound everyone. We ran through all kinds of weather: wind, rain, sleet snow. We ran across tarmac, trails, tracks, swamps, quagmires, woods, fields, and streams. The result speaks for itself, a beautiful GPS trace of a Carnethy christmas snotter. It really is remarkable. Well done to Ross and Dom for chumming me along on this artistic endeavour. I can’t believe we didn’t win. Jim H |
