This wee race packs in everything and runners came from far and wide.
Road crossing – look left look right (nah, fervently hoped there was a marshal), stone wall (fluffed it, too cautious), stream crossing (raging torrent, fell in), swamp (this went not bad), muddy field (good progress), a hill – about a third of a Glamaig and nearly as steep (actually overtook people), and a sprint along the road to finish (dead sprinty).
We even had a brief bit of sunshine! Excellent fun. Lovely Broughton Ale on tap in the hall and hot soup.
Lots of prizes, particularly for the juniors who did well on both the pencil and beer front (I suppose I should say – swiftly handed to parents). I think I might try and run as a junior next year. Highly, in fact totally beer based prizes for the grownups from sponsors Broughton Ales. Keith scooped the V70. I saw Harry clutching bottles; Liam – you shouldn’t have left, you won something! I just missed out (32 secs away from 1st V60). And others I’m afraid I’ve forgotten. The pictures are a bit steamy after the camera’s near drowning.
Good to see the race organiser Dick Wall is an SHR member, thus qualifying for insurance to cover the race. No £2s to SAL.
